Time Tower

Punta Bianca Visitor Center is a competition proposal for the transformation of an existing historic structure on the Sicilian coast. Inspired by the classical column, the project introduces a new cylindrical tower within the preserved stone shell, allowing old and new to remain architecturally distinct.

The lightweight structure rises independently from the historic walls, while its layered façade echoes the colour and texture of the surrounding rocky landscape. Inside, a sequence of circular spaces accommodates exhibitions, educational areas and a media library, connected by a continuous system of stairs and walkways.

Twelve vertical openings divide the tower like the face of a clock, bringing natural light deep into the interior and reinforcing the project’s central idea of time.

At the top, an open-air amphitheatre faces the sea and the setting sun, completing a journey from the preserved past toward a new contemporary landmark.
